I feel a burning sensation deep within.
I smell the smoke rising from within my lungs.
The sound of a fire crackling is heard by my soul.
The taste of ash fills my mouth.
I cough as the ash fills my eye sockets.
I see nothing but blackness.
Then it’s over.
The flame is put out.
I spit the remaining ashes and carry on.
The heart is no longer scorched.
I am returned to my cold and lifeless form.
I am smoking and charred.
The heat slowly dissipates.
The world that was once so bright is now frozen over.
The world is not the same.
The world is cold.
Just like my heart that once burned.
The heart went out like a candle in the wind.
Bright but temporary.
My heart was just temporary.
